THE WHEATON COLLEGE CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC PRESENTS

Symphonic Band Fall Concert

“…to work it and keep it.” — Genesis 2:15

Join the Wheaton College Symphonic Band for our fall concert “Sustain” — an evening of music exploring what it means to care for the world we’ve been given. From the fragile beauty of Earth seen from space to the quiet resilience of the ocean floor, this program invites us to listen closely, and act gently.

Highlights include Maslanka’s Mother Earth, inspired by a prayer of St. Francis of Assisi; Chaiwanichsiri’s Khaen, drawn from a traditional Thai bamboo instrument; Carol Brittin Chambers’ La Terre Sacrée, a tribute to the beauty of the natural world; and Julie Giroux’s Symphony No. 6: The Blue Marble — a sweeping musical portrait of our planet’s beauty and fragility.
